These pictures come from Adam Blair's Speed Camera Detector website, and show a rather sinister development in the authorities' war on First, a camera van of the type we all know and love … … then, another van. A little less conspicuous, this one … … but wait a minute! Look at the number plate! It's the same van! Oh no, surely no police force would be so underhand … would they? Well, it seems they would. Or if not the police, the camera partnerships certainly would. Here is one of their finest, tidily parked up in someone's front garden in Chorley Road, Walton Le Dale, Lancashire ... But predictably the biscuit gets taken in North Wales, home of the Maniac Brunstrom and his Constabulary Horde … The website of the Association of British Drivers catalogues abuses of power by camera operators and is well worth a look. Here are three examples … Wrong side of the road, on double yellow lines and obstructing a bus stop. What an example to set … … while this one in Nottingham is completely blocking the pavement. Where are pedestrians supposed to go? Well hidden behind parked vehicles, and parked on the pavement. It's just inside a 40mph limit, but will be photographing drivers in a 30mph limit, so which limit is it enforcing? If you've got any similar pictures, do send them along and we'll pass them to the ABD and any other websites that share our concerns. either on this site or on the World Wide Web.
